June 20th
We held our 7th Annual Lake Geneva
Father’s Day
Tournament on the third weekend in June. With one of the best Father’s
Day turnouts yet, we had a great time and many fish were caught. A
threat of
rain kept the recreational boat traffic down, too! Carolina Chris and
his
father-in-law brought 13.5 pounds to the scales with a 5 fish limit.
This was
not quite enough to edge out Minn Kota Matt and Mud Dog Andy with a 5
fish
mixed bag limit of 14.5 pounds. No one actually kissed a prop,
although some
of the other competitors could and maybe should have. This is one of
the most
enjoyable tournaments of the year where everyone is out to have fun and
catch
fish with their Dads and/or Sons.
June 13th
We finished our third of six regular season
tournaments at the Madison
Chain, which did not disappoint. One half of the field brought in a
five fish
or four fish limit. Everyone weighed in a fish, and everyone caught
many
shorts! Minn Kota Matt and soon-to-be new member Ben took first place
with 10
fish weighing 18.26 pounds. Senko Pat and Mud Dog Andy took second with
9 fish
weighing 17.15 pounds. Lucky Ron and Jitterbug Jeremy were in third
with 15.75
pounds and 9 fish. Wee-R-Russ had big bass with a 4.37 pound
Largemouth.
Jerkbait Jake and Terminator Tim continue to post strong individual
weigh-ins
and lead our Angler of the Year race.
June 12th
The North Shore Bass Anglers Club volunteered
to help kids catch carp
for the 5th year in a row at the Gages Lake Conservation
Committee/Wildwood
Park District Carp Derby. Culprit Casey put on another great show with a
Casting Kids competition. After 5 years, people are looking forward to
the
event and it is growing in participants. After the morning derby, the
volunteers enjoyed a cook out and day on the water on Gages Lake.
It was a great chance to get club families together. It’s a toss up
whether the kids had more fun than the adults. Thanks to all the
volunteers
for another successful Conservation and Youth Event—especially to Casey
for putting it all together
May 15th
The second tournament of the year was held on the
Chicago Skyline with the launch out of 95th Street. Twelve boat teams
were there. This was our first annual charity tournament benefiting the Kevin A
Przybyl Breathe Easy Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis. Boats ran as far North as
BelmontHarbor. The main target
was Smallmouth, but some Largemouth were weighed in as well. It was another
great tournament that went very smoothly. Terminator Tim and Rapala Rob edged
out a narrow victory by six tenths of a pound over Jerkbait Jake and Madman
Mark. Third place was Hookset Lou and Torpedo Tim. Terminator Tim had the Big
Bass of the day with a 2.53 pound Smallmouth.
April 25th &
26th
The club sent a team again this year to the Illinois
Bass Federation Nation 6-Man State Qualifier on Rend Lake. The club really pulled together
this year to share information and devise a plan. We had a respectable finish
in the middle of the pack after the second day was cancelled due to unsafe
conditions. We were on fish, so we’ll never know who well we may have done.
We’ll get ‘em next year. The boaters were Minn Kota Matt, Terminator Tim, and
Topwater Ted. The non-boaters were Madman Mark, Senko Pat, and Lunker Lou.
These members qualified for the team by being the three best boaters and
non-boaters in 2009.
April 10th &
11th
This was our first tournament of the year on
RendLakein Southern
Illinois, and twelve boats were in attendance. As a two day
tournament, it was a great chance to hang out after a long day of fishing and
get to know our fellow members better. Rattle-Trap Rich and Jitterbug Jeremy
took first prize followed by Topwater Ted fishing alone. Third place was
Jerkbait Jake and Bronzeback Dave. Jeremy had the Big Bass of the tournament
with a 3.42 pound Largemouth.
April 6, 2010 The Season Kick-Off April 6th

tournament details, and conclude with an impressive Raffle. The First
Tournament on April 10th & 11th at Rend Lake
will get
us back doing what we love —good fishing, good friends, good competition .
. . and we get better along the way.
March 14, 2010 We held our first Buddy Tournament on Braidwood
Lake
as a chance to kick the tires on our boats prior to the first big
tournament. We had six boats show up to the event. Buddy
Tournaments are a great way to get the guys together and have fun on the
water. Congratulations to Mo Bass Mike and son for First Place, Hook-em
Steven and friend for Second Place, and Terminator Tim and Drop Shot
Doug for
Third Place.
March 6, 2010 The Annual Awards Dinner was a huge success and
a great time.
This event was with our wives/girlfriends and gives the women a chance
to meet
the members and see what goes on. We celebrated the victors of our 2009
points

the women. Congratulations to the 2009 Angler of the Year, Madman Mark;

March 2, 2010 The New Member March Meeting on March 2nd
at 7pm at Little
America in Mount Prospect was a great
opportunity to formally introduce the new guys and get the everyone
ready for a
great season. Madman Mark gave a good talk to all members about being a
good partner and making plans ahead of a tournament.

formally introduce us to the new guys. A Braidwood Buddy Tournament in Mid-March has been called to
get those boats ready.
January 2010 Reel-n-Rich and Jerkbait Jake represented the club at the
Illinois BASS Federation Nation President’s Meeting. They’ve brought home some good information
for our club that will help us move forward.
The 6-ManIllinois State Championship
Qualifier will be held onRend
Lake on April 24th
and 25th. We will be sending
a team that will be announced at the Annual Awards Dinner.
January 2010 Over half the club made it to Minn Kota Matt’s winter bass
club party. A few of the dedicated ice
fishermen started early on Gages Lake before moving
in-doors. The entire group enjoyed a
spread of appetizers, chili, and many other home-made choices provided by
Matt’s wife. The festivities carried on
well into the night. Lots of fishing
talk, football, strategy, and just plain fun.
November 2009 Many thanks to Hook ‘Em Steve for arranging an all-expense
paid club dinner at PF Changs in Glenview. What a great way for the guys to get together
and talk fishing in the short off-season.
, October 2009 We ended the 2009 Tournament Season with a great Classic on
the Detroit River/Lake Erie/Lake St. Clair.
Hookset Lou once again showed his ability to adapt to changing
conditions and pulled out a come-back victory with a beautiful bag of Smallies.
